Title: Senior Mobile Engineer (iOS + Android) — Firebase Backend
Location: Remote (US) / Los Angeles, CA
About the role
We're building a connected-device product with companion mobile apps on iOS and Android, backed by a Firebase + Node.js serverless stack. Looking
for a senior engineer who can own features end-to-end across both platforms and the backend, mentor mid-level developers, and make architectural
calls.
What you'll do
- Architect and ship features in our Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Swift) apps
- Build and maintain serverless backend services on Firebase Cloud Functions in Node.js / TypeScript
- Design Firestore schemas, security rules, and Cloud Messaging / Dynamic Links integrations
- Implement reactive data flows (RxJava / Combine) and work with local persistence (Room, SQLite, CoreData)
- Integrate BLE peripherals for real-time sensor data
- Drive performance, memory, and battery optimization
- Collaborate with product and design on UI/UX in custom views, animations, and graphs
Required
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Production Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack (LiveData, ViewModel, Room)
- Production iOS development with Swift (and comfort reading Objective-C)
- Hands-on experience with Firebase (Firestore, Functions, Auth, Cloud Messaging)
- Strong Node.js / TypeScript backend skills
- Experience designing custom views, animations, and rich UI components
- BS in CS, EE, or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) integration on mobile
- Experience with React or web frontend frameworks
- Industrial/HMI or robotics background
- AWS experience for hybrid cloud deployments
- GraphQL APIs (stretch — not in his resume)
- Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) (stretch)
